Business Law shareholder right to fire officers?

President of a company was questioned at a shareholders meeting, by the shareholders, about the company donation of land. The president chided the shareholders about their narrow point of view, after which the shareholder moved, seconded and voted to remove the president. Was this action of the shareholders proper and within their shareholders rights?
