How can a person know if (s)he is considered good looking?

So sometimes I wonder.. sure my pride makes me stand tall and feel beautiful, but there's a difference between feeling beautiful and others thinking the same thing. People stare at me a lot, and it makes me wonder some times if they stare cuz i'm ugly or something... i'm kind of tall and thin, so other times it makes me wonder if they're thinking that I'm tooo tall (5'6). i receive compliments every once in a while, but they're from people who you expect to give you compliments. and well, my personality doesn't really allow people to be too open up about their opinion of me..
