How long does it take??? tooo!!!?

i have a alcohol test coming up for work. I have drank from the age of 15 and i am now 23. (not sure if it matters)........ I drink pretty heavy thoughout that time. Will some thing come up and how long will i have to not drink to pass the test..... This is for my apprenticeship for a pipefitter so appreciate any good info
