Because Arsenal FC is a Business and the principals in that Business are there to make money. In lieu of titles, that generate income, there are holdings (players,land,product licenses ,etc.) to be bought and sold. If Share holders don't turn a profit. Then they back out and the clubs value drops. Kroenke didn't get to be a billionaire by not making money off of everything that he does.
